Conducting an Effective Workplace Investigation

Workplace violence issues, sexual harassment complaints, and other serious workplace behaviors and disputes necessitate investigations. This course is designed to provide the skills needed to conduct prompt, fair and thorough workplace investigations that will allow managers and small-business owners to make sound decisions and minimize legal risks. Course features include practical guidance and actual experience in conducting workplace investigations.

Key Learning Objectives:

  • Gain an understanding of when, how and why workplace investigations must be conducted
  • Develop strategies for interviewing difficult witnesses
  • Learn how to write valuable investigative reports
  • Participate in a mock investigation
Prerequisites: To enroll in Senior Manager in Human Resources Professional Certificate courses, participants must meet one of the following requirements prior to enrollment:
  • Completion of the 10-course Extended Studies Human Resources Management Certificate in addition to three years of experience as a human resources professional
  • Professional/Senior Professional in Human Resources (PHR/SPHR) designation granted through the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI)
  • Minimum of five years’ professional experience working in human resources
